Module 4 - SLP
Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility

Note: You may complete the Module 4 Case and SLP in any order you prefer.

Required:

In the Module 4 SLP, we will be discussing academic integrity (or plagiarism). Please complete the following 8 steps:

Step 1) Begin by reviewing page 12 of the TUI Well-Written Paper guide. Please click here to access.

Step 2) Read the TUI Academic Integrity Policy found in the TUI Student Handbook: http://www.tuiu.edu/admissions/university-catalog/

Step 3) Go to the following site, and complete the pre-test: http://lib.usm.edu/legacy/plag/plagiarismtutorial.php

Please do not send your score to your instructor (do not complete the box entitled “Your Instructor’s Email”). However, be sure to keep your pre-test score, so that you can compare it to your post-test score.

Step 4) After you have responded to the 10 items, please complete the follow-up boxes:

Your School, Organization, etc. (required):

Your Name (required):

Your E-mail (required):

Confirm Your E-mail (required):

Your instructor's email (optional):

Step 5) You will receive your corrected responses (and total score) by email. Be sure to keep this information so that you can compare your pre-test and post-test scores.

Step 6) Complete the tutorial - don’t forget to keep notes as you proceed through the tutorial – and be sure that you keep track of how well you did on Quiz #1 and Quiz #2.

Step 7) Complete the post-test.

Step 8) Using proper formatting (see the TUI Well-Written Paper guide), write a 2-3 page paper in which address the following:

a) Perform a candid self-assessment of your performance. What were your pre-test and post-test scores?

b) How well did you do on Quiz #1 and Quiz #2?

c) In what ways might you need improvement (i.e., in what ways might you have had misunderstandings)?

d) How can you improve your knowledge of plagiarism in those areas for which you had misunderstandings? What resources might be most helpful to you in this respect?

Expectations:

1) Your SLP will be evaluated on the rigor of your self-assessment - and not on your pre- and post-test scores.

2) Be sure to follow the guidelines in the Well-Written Paper. To this extent, the Module 2 SLP will be graded using the following criteria:

  • Precision - Does the paper fully address the question(s) or task(s) in full?
  • Depth - Does the paper address all elements of the topic in sufficient depth? Does it include and apply the background readings and other background resources when appropriate?
  • Application - Are the concepts of the module appropriately applied in the SLP?
  • Organization - Is the paper organized in a coherent and systematic manner? Are headings included in all papers greater than 2 pages?
  • Clarity - Is the writing clear and the concepts articulated properly?
