Module 2 - SLP
Business Ethics and Consequentialism
In the Module 2 SLP, we will be reviewing American Psychological Association (APA) style. Use of APA style is required in all Trident University International papers – both the Case and SLP – that you will write throughout your graduate program. The following website – authored by the University of Southern Mississippi – is an excellent resource for APA style: http://www.lib.usm.edu/help/style_guides.html The following link relates to the proper citation of sources in the Reference section at the end of your paper: USM Style Guide for a Reference List Please review the following site demonstrating proper APA style for "in-text" (or parenthetical) citations: I would also like for you to review the following APA guidelines at the Purdue OWL (Online Writing Lab). Be sure to review the “In-text Citations” and “Reference Links” reflected on the left navigation bar. Using the left navigation bar, be sure to take specific note as to how books and articles are cited within the body of the paper (i.e., as in-text citations) and how books and articles are reflected in the paper as end references. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ After you have reviewed the information on the above sites, please review pages 8-11 and pages 14-16 – relating to “Citations” and “References” in the TUI Well-Written Paper guide. Be sure to note how websites must be cited (page 16). Locate the following articles in EBSCO (if you are unsure how to use EBSCO, review the tutorial located here at http://support.trident.edu/student/library.html ): 1) “Is Business Ethics Getting Better? A Historical Perspective” By: Cuillla, Joanne B. Business Ethics Quarterly. Article published in 2011. Volume 21. 3) Ochulor, Chinenye Leo., & Okpo, Odumayak. Article was published in 2010. “The Place of Ethics in Business: A Case Study of Locke's Ethics.” European Journal of Scientific Research, Volume 44. 4) McGowan, Richard J.; McGowan, Tyler R. Article published in 2011. “Locke, Business Ethics Textbooks, and Virtue.” Journal of Leadership, Accountability & Ethics, Volume 8. Locate the following books in the Ebrary (again, if you are not clear how to use the Ebrary, please review the tutorial at http://support.trident.edu/student/library.html ): 1) Business Ethics by A.K. Gavai. Mumbaj, Himalaya Publishing House, 2010. 2) Rethinking Business Ethics: A Pragmatic Approach by Sandra B. Rosenthal and Rogene A. Buchholz. Oxford University Press, 1999. 3) Organizational Ethics and the Good Life by Edwin M. Hartman. Oxford University Press, 1996. Required: For each of the sources above, please address the following: 1) Cite each source using proper APA citation (as an end reference); 2) Take a direct quotation out of each of the above sources, and demonstrate how each direct quotation should be cited (as an in-text citation); and 3) Copy 2-3 sentences from the above sources, and then paraphrase the sentences you've copied. Show how each paraphrased statement should be cited (as an in-text citation). Expectations: 1) Your paper will be evaluated on your use of proper use of APA style - both referencing and in-text citations. 2) Your paper will be graded on your ability to properly cite direct quotations. 3) Your paper will be graded on your ability to properly paraphrase text from each source, and your ability to correctly cite each source as an in-text citation. 4) Submit your paper to Coursenet by the Module 2 due date.
